This is a real estate developer driven event. The aim is to raise the profile of an area that is a good location but has been not so dynamic for a long time. The focus is street-art and live art that takes place over a few days. The usually quiet streets become a dynamic zone with some very interesting creative projects.

Sod Walk
Based on the agricultural system of crop rotation, “Sod Walk” is a roving performance piece made from a 30 feet long live sod carpet. The segmented pieces of sod will be hand lifted by four performers and walked to the opposite end in a continuous manner, allowing the carpet to slowly travel around DUMBO. People will be able to engage in the activities that play out on a normal visit to the park. Couples will lay in the grass, dogs will frolic, friends will throw picnics and spontaneous frisbee games will happen on this slow moving sod surface. Relax and enjoy the lush green sod.

CREATAR: MONSTAR ISLAND
creatAR is the world’s easiest augmented reality creation software, allowing you to make anything, anywhere! Mark Skwarek will perform live with creatAR and attempt a rescue from the island he created at the 2011 DUMBO Arts Festival. The entire event will be seen and heard on people’s smartphones and tablets. Everyone is welcome to participate and use the app to create and edit whatever comes to mind using animation, size, and location. creatAR is highly interactive and fun for all ages.
